The NSN Safer Living Campaign is one of the primary movements of the company. Across the network, the NSN is investing in youth health and wellbeing, education, and taking real action to improve the lives of students and young people across the UK, and U.S.
The NSN is targeting thousands higher education institutions including universities and colleges, as well as police forces, government agencies, businesses, media outlets, and people, to join and sign the Safer Living Pledge. Safer Living Pledge
NSN Safer Living is a collaborative movement led by The National Student Network UK, bringing together partners across the United States and United Kingdom to create safer, healthier environments for young people.
Young adults face unique challenges in education, social life, and nightlife. From campus life to nights out, risks can include health issues, substance misuse, violence, harassment, and crime. Our initiative empowers youth, institutions, businesses, and communities through several commitments.
Health Education Programs — Evidence-based workshops and resources on physical/mental health, consent, substance awareness, and well-being.
Nightlife and Nightclub Crime Prevention — Practical guidance for safer venues, staff training awareness, anti-spiking campaigns, and collaboration with police/licensing authorities to reduce incidents.
Additional Key Steps — Promoting bystander intervention, digital/online safety, safe transport initiatives (e.g., late-night options), peer support networks, and policy advocacy for youth-focused protections.

The NSN Safer Living Pledge 2026
The cornerstone of the NSN Safer Living campaign is the Safer Living Pledge. A voluntary commitment of shared values. Signing does not create any legal obligations, contracts, financial commitments, or liability beyond existing laws. Instead, it is a public statement of support for youth safety, health, and well-being in alignment with The National Student Network's Missions and Goals around youth support, safety, health, and wellbeing.
Some of the organizations invited to sign as well as individuals include:
- Universities and colleges
- Community safety partnerships and charities
- Nightlife businesses (clubs, bars, venues)
- Government departments/branches (education, health, home office)
- Student unions and youth organizations across the U.S. and UK.
- Councils and local groups

The Pledge is voluntary and non-binding. Signing or supporting the Safer Living Pledge is a public statement of shared values only. It does not create any contract, partnership, financial commitment or legal obligation for you, for your organisation or for NSN, beyond what the law already requires. You can stop supporting the Pledge at any time.
Using the Safer Living materials. You may download, print and share the Safer Living materials, unaltered, for non-commercial purposes connected with taking part in or promoting the Safer Living campaign. Organisations may sign the Pledge, display it on their premises or websites, and circulate it internally or to partners for signature. Please do not change the materials, use them for commercial purposes, present them as your own, or use them in a way that suggests NSN or NSN UK endorses you, your organisation or your products or services.
Naming supporters. If you send us a signed Pledge or ask to be named as a supporter, we will only name you or your organisation publicly with your agreement.
Not professional advice. The Safer Living materials are general information to raise awareness of youth safety, health and wellbeing. They are not medical, legal, safety or other professional advice. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, contact the emergency services: 999 in the UK or 911 in the US.
The Pledge document. The Safer Living Pledge PDF will carry its own short terms. Until then, this notice applies to it.
